Foreign License Conversion Overview
Understanding the Conversion Process
Converting your license to FAA certification is straightforward when you know the steps. Here’s what to expect when working with USATS:
The FAA foreign license verification and conversion process generally includes:
Submitting FAA Form 8060-71 for license verification
Coordination with your issuing aviation authority
Receiving the FAA Foreign License Verification Letter
We will arrange for you to meet with an FAA DPE to obtain FAA Private Pilot License (based on Foreign).
Proceed with any required ground or flight training to obtain desired licenses/ratings
Passing the FAA knowledge and practical tests (if applicable)
If you hold a valid foreign pilot license, you can obtain an FAA Private Pilot Certificate through the foreign license verification process. This is the foundational step for flying in the United States.
From there, your existing flight experience may be applied toward earning additional FAA certificates and ratings. USATS will guide you through each step, from verifying your credentials with your home authority to preparing for any required FAA knowledge and practical tests.
Depending on your flight experience and certification, we’ll tailor your conversion plan to ensure full compliance and efficient completion.
Our Conversion Services Include:
